TORONTO – Tricon Films & Television announced Thursday that it has signed an extensive agreement with Google’s digital platform Google Play across all territories worldwide for over 2,000 hours of content from their TV and film service.

The deal will include Tricon’s library of scripted series including such titles such as Maron (23×30’) and The Spoils of Babylon (6×30’); all one-off documentaries and documentary series; and Tricon’s kids and family content including popular youth competition series The Next Star. Tricon said that it will launch a range of unscripted factual and lifestyle series shortly thereafter.

“We’re very pleased to forge a new global partnership with Google and help kick-start the Google Play service into Canada with our diverse catalogue of scripted and unscripted content”, said Jon Rutherford, Tricon’s SVP of distribution & business development, in the news release.  “This is an important next step for Tricon as we continue to grow our digital and transactional business across all platforms.”
