TORONTO – Another year and another rebrand – two in fact. After making over TVTropolis in to DTOUR at this time last year, Shaw Media said Wednesday that it will launch new specialty channels FYI and Crime + Investigation later this year, rebrands of Twist TV and Mystery TV, respectively.
Geared towards a younger, upscale audience, FYI will offer contemporary lifestyle programs that spark inspiration, imagination, and innovation amongst viewers, reads the press release. From the fashionable-food-blogger to the adventure-seeking-bookworm, millenials are history's most progressive social innovators living hyphenated lives in digital domains. With an off-script format engaging this new generation's multi-faceted lifestyle, FYI will host a hub of modern lifestyle programming featuring health and wellness and food and fashion. The channel will debut this Fall.
Crime + Investigation, scheduled to launch in December, strives to engage viewers' minds and crime solving skills, drawing the audience into investigations by offering a behind-the-scenes look at gripping, unforgettable crime stories, continues the release. Already a strong brand internationally, CI takes viewers on an emotional and thrilling journey into the intricate and suspenseful world of true crime and criminal investigation.
Both brands are owned by A+E Networks and FYI is replacing the Biography Channel in the States. We're not sure yet what that means, if anything, for Rogers Media's Bio specialty in Canada. Rogers still runs OLN here in Canada even though that brand no longer exists south of the border.
“As the media landscape evolves, Shaw Media continues to see success with strong specialty channels focused on offering high-quality, engaging content," said Paul Robertson, EVP of Shaw Communications and president of Shaw Media, in the release. "FYI and Crime + Investigation are welcome additions to our leading portfolio, further captivating the female demo and providing an even wider selection of programming for our viewers."
Shaw Media operates 19 specialty networks plus conventional television network Global Television.
