Lindsay Broadband marks 60th anniversary

PETERBOROUGH, ON – Lindsay Broadband is celebrating 60 years of business serving the international communications industry.

As a designer, manufacturer, and integrator of broadband communication solutions, Lindsay's products include strand-mounted Wi-Fi hotspots, optical and DOCSIS Gateways, LTE small cell backhaul solutions, end-to-end FTTx and RF solutions.

Headquartered in Peterborough, Lindsay Broadband was founded by John Thomas in 1953, and quickly became one of the largest manufacturers of off-air antenna products worldwide.  Other company milestones include:

– 1960s: developed wide bandwidth passives and amplifiers to satisfy demand for more entertainment services;

– 1970s: designed the first silicon based 300 MHz amplifiers, which became the standard for North America;

– 1980s: first North American manufacturer to deploy networks in China and Taiwan totaling over 2500 systems;

– 1990s: largest worldwide supplier of ultra-high bandwidth passives during network upgrades;

– 2004: first manufacturer to design and deploy HFC powered strand mounted Wi-Fi;

– 2009: first manufacturer to deploy four port HFC Gateways for IP traffic and security connectivity;

– 2012: first manufacturer to deploy HFC POE power supplies to power third party IP;

– 2013: first manufacturer to deploy indoor DOCSIS LTE small cell backhaul gateways;

– 2014: first manufacturer to deploy HFC strand mounted LTE small cell demarcation gateways.

David Atman joined Lindsay Broadband in 1979 and has been its president since 2003.
