MONTREAL – Japan is the latest international destination where Bell has lowered the cost of voice and data roaming for consumers.

For data users, the new $30 Zone 1 Travel Data Pass for Japan includes 50 MB of Internet and other data access, an increase of 30 MB and a reduction in the per-MB rate to 60 cents from the previous price of $40 for 20 MB.  The enhanced $100 Travel Data Pass now includes 200 MB, up from 50 MB, offers usage monitoring and alerts.  Passes can be purchased before or during travel with the Bell Mobility self-serve app.

For voice calling, the new $30 package for Japan offers 60 minutes of calling (previously $40 for 50 minutes) while a new $45 voice and text bundle provides 60 minutes of voice, unlimited incoming texts and 200 sent messages (previously $60 for 50 minutes and 200 sent messages).  The cost of pay-per-use roaming in Japan has also dropped 33% to $2 a minute for voice and $8 per MB of data.

"Bell is focused on cutting the cost of mobile roaming in the countries Canadians travel to the most, and we're happy to add Japan to the list with great new rates on mobile voice and data plans for consumers travelling there," said Bell Mobility president Wade Oosterman, in the press release.
