MONTREAL – ROOT is opening a next generation colocation facility in Montreal that it says will offer the world's cheapest colocation at prices 30-70% less than its local and international peers.
The $20 million Tier 3, carrier neutral, 5MW, 500 server rack facility is located less than 15 minutes from downtown Montreal and the airport. It is scheduled to open in September 2014.
"By using a next generation green cooling technology, the first of its kind in Montreal, we are able to consume 50% less power than our nearest local competitor”, said CEO Jason van Gaal, in the press release. “This unique competitive advantage, combined with rates negotiated with Quebec Hydro, will enable us to provide colocation services at a price point 30% less than our nearest local competitor, and 70% less than competitors in Ontario, and other states and provinces."
