TORONTO – CTV is promising to unlock the streaming of its CTV GO app this Sunday to allow web and mobile users to catch its live broadcast of The Oscars.
While an account with a participating TV service provider is typically required to access CTV GO, the broadcaster said that it is suspending that requirement during this broadcast as “a special showcase of the app and its content”.
"Unlocking CTV GO for the biggest awards show of the year provides a terrific sampling opportunity on a massive scale," said Mike Cosentino, SVP of programming, CTV Networks, in the press release. "We invite Canadians to check out the viewing experience that CTV GO delivers each and every day."
Hosted by Ellen DeGeneres for the second time, The 86th Annual Academy Awards will air live from Los Angeles on CTV this Sunday, March 2 at 8:30 PM ET. Following the live broadcast, the entire awards show will be available on-demand for encore or catch-up viewing for a full week, beginning March 3 (or for two weeks for subscribers of participating service providers).
