LOS ANGELES AND MONTREAL – Media development and management company Saban Brands and Cirque du Soleil Média announced a new partnership today to develop an original childrens’ entertainment property inspired by the Cirque du Soleil’s productions.

The deal will see the two companies collaborate on a new television series, web and interactive content, and related merchandise. Saban Brands president Elie Dekel says the project “promises to be a groundbreaking new kids property with worldwide appeal and numerous off-screen extensions.”

Saban Brands is an affiliate of Saban Capital Group, Inc., a private investment firm based in Los Angeles focused on media, entertainment, and communications investments. Other media franchises under the Saban Brands umbrella include: Power Rangers; the Paul Frank fashion and lifestyle brand, which includes clothing, accessories, books and more; the Digimon Fusion animated series, as well as other gaming apps and brands.

Cirque du Soleil Média was formed as a result of a joint venture between Cirque du Soleil and Bell Media in December 2012. The two companies partnered to develop Québec-based, original multiplatform media content for sale and licensing around the world, leveraging Cirque du Soleil’s creative resources and infrastructure and Bell Media’s media platforms and production and distribution capabilities.

Creative Artists Agency brokered the deal with Saban Brands on behalf of Cirque du Soleil Média.
