OTTAWA – With mobile devices taking hold, more and more Canadians are watching TV on their smartphones and tablets, according to the Fall 2013 Media Technology Adoption report from Media Technology Monitor (MTM).

This tracking report takes a high level look at the penetration of technologies, including traditional, Internet and mobile platforms for audio and video. It organizes technologies based on their stage of consumer adoption: innovative, emerging, expanding, maturing and declining technologies.

Highlights from the report include:

– Two thirds of Anglophones have a smartphone and over 4 in 10 own tablets;

– Watching TV on smartphones and tablets continues to gain traction and 1 in 5 Anglophones now stream audio on their smartphone; and

– Netflix continues to make its mark in the Anglophone Canadian market with a growth rate of nearly 40% in the past year.

The report is now available to subscribers on the MTM website.

The MTM is also offering a free report called Fall 2013: Top 5 Sneak Peak  highlighting five of the newest and most interesting findings from its Fall 2013 data.  Those topics include cord cutting, binge viewing, personalized music services, mobile video, and online TV viewing.
