TORONTO – With the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games less than a month away, CBC/Radio-Canada and its specialty partners TSN, TSN2, Sportsnet, and Sportsnet ONE will offer Canadians 1519 broadcast hours (for both English and French).
That coverage will be available on five platforms – TV, radio, online, tablet and mobile. Through the soon to be launched CBC Olympic App, Canadians will also be able to stream live coverage directly to their smartphone or tablet for the first time, and CBC is promising a “second screen experience” during its primetime show.
CBC’s coverage starts on Thursday, February 6 at 6:00 AM ET, in a newly added day of competition that will include the premiere of the new Olympic sport Snowboard Slopestyle (Men’s and Ladies’) and Canada’s figure skaters skating their programs in a new team event. The Opening Ceremony begins at 11:00 AM ET on February 7, but CBC will air a pre-show beginning at 10:00 AM ET.
Every event will be seen live on Canadian TV across CBC, TSN, TSN2, Sportsnet, and Sportsnet One. CBC will offer premier events live (including all Canadian ice hockey games) with a curated Olympic primetime show (350+ hours over 18 days); TSN & TSN2 have live events and in primetime provide the day’s hockey story (250+ hours / 15 days), and Sportsnet and Sportsnet ONE have live events and a curling focus in primetime (200+ hours / 15 days).
