OTTAWA – The federal government is asking Canadians for feedback on its new federal science, technology and innovation strategy.
As part of the approach to updating the 2007 S&T Strategy as promised in October’s Speech from the Throne, the government released a discussion paper that solicits the public's ideas and recommendations on how best to shape federal policy on science, technology and innovation. Submissions are due before February 7, 2014.
"Our goal is to develop a strategy for harnessing both discovery-driven and applied research to propel further innovation, create high-value jobs and contribute to our long-term prosperity”, said Greg Rickford, Minister of State for Science and Technology, in Wednesday’s announcement. “We want to ensure that Canada remains well positioned in the global arena for excellence, talent and wealth."
