VANCOUVER – Roam Mobility has unveiled a new pre-paid wireless plan for Canadians planning to spend extended time in the United States this winter.

For $39.95 per month, the Snowbird Plan offers unlimited talk and text and 1 GB of high-speed data, but must be purchased in three month blocks for a minimum price of $119.85.  Like all of Roam Mobility’s plans, it also offers free long-distance calls to Canada, voicemail and caller ID.

To take advantage of the plan, travelers must purchase the Roam SIM Card, which is compatible with any unlocked GSM phone, smartphone or tablet sold in Canada. When users activate the SIM card online, they can schedule a date to begin their wireless service. At the end of the plan, when users return to Canada, the SIM card goes into a suspended state and will not expire until 365 days after the last day of the plan, allowing users to top up their Snowbird Plan the following year while keeping the same wireless number.

"This is the best wireless deal in North America, and we're proud to offer it exclusively to Canadians," said Emir Aboulhosn, Roam Mobility founder and SVP business development, in the news release.  "For Snowbirds enjoying warm weather in Florida, California and Arizona, there simply is no cheaper and more convenient way to stay connected in the U.S."
