TORONTO – Veteran news anchor Kevin Newman is at the helm of a new news program debuting Monday night that uses two screens to take viewers beyond ‘what’s happening’ to ‘what’s next’.
Kevin Newman Live promises to feature stories that reflect the modern-day ‘speed of light’ human experience, opening viewers’ eyes to stories and situations that may not ordinarily hit the radar or pass through the typical North American news filter. Newman will deliver breaking news and topical headlines on the television broadcast, while online at KNLive.com, the conversation brews in real-time, allowing for opinions of viewers to be shared with, and heard by, the show’s production team.
The show starts online, segues into the 9:00 pm broadcast, and then moves back online to the website, every day. Viewers will be offered an inside look at how stories are selected by watching the news editorial team’s daily story meetings, plus gain insight and background into the show’s nightly broadcast stories and guests.
“KNLive creates a truly transparent newscast that offers a nightly destination for viewers who crave the extra edge that comes with knowing and understanding more,” said Newman, most recently seen on CTV’s Question Period. “We’re creating a two-screen world for those who want to know the latest, seek out more context, and contribute to the conversation. Our aim is to create a novel newscast that makes original choices on how to present stories.”
Kevin Newman Live airs weeknights at 9:00 pm ET/6 pm PT beginning November 18 on CTV News Channel, and will repeat on BNN at 12 midnight ET/9 pm PT.
