OXFORDSHIRE, U.K. – SparkNet Communications’ Jackfm radio brand entered the next phase of its international expansion today with the launch of 107.9 Jackfm 2 on DAB digital radio and online across the U.K.
The new station offers a twist on JACK’s popular “playing what we want” brand by instead letting listeners control the playlist. Listeners can browse the station’s playlist online at jackfm2oxfordshire.co.uk and vote for their favourite songs.
The station alerts the listener with a text, tweet or email when their chosen song is about to play on air.
Jackfm 2 is aimed at a younger audience than its sister station 106 Jackfm, the adult contemporary radio station whose format achieved success in North America before SparkNet and partner OXIS Media launched it in 2007 in Oxfordshire.
“?JACKfm 2 is JACK re-imagined for the next generation,” said SparkNet president Pat Bohn in a release. “With music targeting a younger listener, the New JACKfm 2 provides variety, fun, attitude and spunk with a female point of view.?”
Since launching in the UK in 2007, JACKfm has garnered numerous U.K. industry awards.
