CMPA/Telefilm mentoring program fosters next generation of Cancon promoters

OTTAWA – The Canadian Media Production Association (CMPA) announced Tuesday the launch of a new mentorship program to help companies promote Canadian content and talent, as well as expand public awareness of Canadian productions.

Collaborating with Telefilm Canada, the Telefilm Canada Marketing Mentorship Program will offer 20-week mentorship opportunities to six emerging and mid-level marketing professionals at active production companies. Participants will gain in-depth knowledge of the Canadian film, television and interactive media sectors while focusing on the promotion of the company and its projects.

“The CMPA’s mentorship programs have been instrumental in independent production companies’ strategic expansion and in providing emerging and mid-level producers with critical on-the-job training,” said Susanne Vaas, CMPA’s VP of business affairs and secretary designate, in a release. “With this program, we are taking the next step and focusing on promoting members’ content. Telefilm Canada recognizes the importance of assisting companies with promotion and we are delighted to be partnering with them on this initiative.”

Applications for the Telefilm Canada Marketing Mentorship Program will be accepted until September 15, 2013. For details and eligibility, visit this page on the CMPA website.
