Degrassi Chat app connects fans with the cast

TORONTO – Production company Epitome Pictures has launched a new companion app for the Degrassi television series that lets fans interact with the show’s cast and crew. It also lets users chat with fellow fans, check-in to episodes,  and customize pictures with messages and autographs.

“The Degrassi Chat App is the remote to all things Degrassi online," says Epitome Pictures CEO and Degrassi Executive Producer, Stephen Stohn. “With Degrassi Chat, fans can create high quality autographed photos of the cast, even while watching the show.”

The Degrassi Chat app on iTunes is the best way to keep on top of everything Degrassi. Fully integrated with Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr, the app also rewards users with points for interaction.

The app was developed for Epitome Pictures by mobile app developer Bitheads using an Application Programming Interface (API) built by Mobovivo, a second screen  video distribution company. The API, built on Mobovivo’s  award-winning StayTuned platform, allows for integration with TV companion apps, providing advanced functionality that software developers can easily add to third party apps.

“TV audiences are using their smartphones and tablets while watching TV. That’s a business reality for producers," says Mobovivo founder and CEO, Trevor Doerksen. “Mobovivo’s StayTuned platform, plus the creativity of producers and developers like Epitome and Bitheads, engages fans on their second screen devices.”
