Leadership “a job of a career and life”, says CTAM U recipient Luxton

TORONTO – According to Insight Sport’s Sean Luxton, the intangibles of leadership and just how critical leadership is to success is a key takeaway from his experience at the 16th annual Cable Executive Management Program at the Harvard Business School.
As this year’s recipient of the CTAM Canada Fellowship Award, Luxton, who is Senior Vice President – Digital and Content Distribution at Insight Sports, joined approximately 70 executive-level attendees representing various areas of the production, broadcasting and cable distribution industries at the program from June 9 to 14, 2013.

“I took away from CTAM U some specific business skills and processes and case learnings, sure: unpolished / unpracticed but now at-the-ready”, Luxton writes of his experience. “But what I carry with me from CTAM U every day is a much deeper understanding of how to lead, what a leader does to engage with those around him, and the realization that these opportunities for leadership are EVERYWHERE; in a group, at a meeting or one-to-one at the coffee machine. Each interaction is a chance to connect, to listen, to question, to engage with someone else.”

After becoming a corporate patron of the Executive Management Program at the Harvard Business School in 2006, CTAM Canada has committed to sponsor a chapter member to attend the program annually. Participants of the program are chosen through an application process and selected by a special committee made up of CTAM Canada executives.
Applications for the 2014 CTAM Canada Fellowship Award from CTAM Canada will be available in early 2014.
