
TORONTO – International children’s television channel KidsCo, a joint venture owned by NBCUniversal and Corus Entertainment will be broadcast from Corus Quay in Toronto as of today (January 8).
The channel will be delivered to over 100 territories in 17 languages. In addition, Corus will also oversee the channel’s programming and scheduling as well as collaborating on marketing and on-air promotions. The refreshed on-air look developed by Corus will be complemented by original, new content and a new web site.
“Today’s announcement is the culmination of lots of exciting changes for KidsCo, with fresh branding and compelling new programming highlighted by key Nelvana titles,” said Hendrik McDermott, managing director of KidsCo in the press release. “We are thrilled to continue to leverage the strengths of our committed shareholders, with NBCUniversal’s global reach and Corus’ programming expertise, cutting edge infrastructure and technology.”

KidsCo recently licensed a slate of fresh content from its corporate sister Nelvana, including Beyblade, Grossology, Rolie Polie Olie, Jacob Two-Two and Babar to further bolster the channel’s 2013 schedule. KidsCo has also acquired the rights to widely-acclaimed shows My Place and Shelldon and has commissioned NBCUniversal’s Matchbox Pictures to produce Zuzu and the Supernuffs.
