
TORONTO –? BBC Worldwide Canada has appointed Michael Smith as senior vice-president of TV sales, co-productions and digital distribution.
Smith will be responsible for developing and delivering a five-year growth plan for the Canadian market including building relationships with existing network and premium cable clients, and representing the market to the BBC as well as top UK production teams on major projects. He will also develop and implement the company?s digital syndication, VOD and DTO strategy. Smith will report to Matt Forde, EVP, sales and co-productions, BBC Worldwide North America.

Smith has an extensive background in film, television and digital sales. Before joining BBC Worldwide Canada, Smith was vice-president, television and digital sales for Entertainment One. Prior to that, Smith was director, corporate partnerships for the Toronto Argonauts Football Club and executive director at JV Media (a Lions Gate/TVA joint venture) where he handled sales of feature film and television for PPV, VOD, pay-TV and free TV windows.
