Hamilton’s community channel going high-def

HAMILTON, Ont. – Cable 14 will launch in high definition on October 15th.

At noon that day the 100% local channel co-owned by Rogers Cable, Cogeco Cable and Source Cable will debut programming in HD. Cable subscribers will view their `Clearly Community` programs (some local outdoor ads are already touting it) at no additional cost on: Cogeco – 814; Rogers – 214; Source – 714.

Cable 14’s general manager Brent Rickert believes it was imperative the community station offer programming in HD to ensure Cable 14 keeps up with evolving technology and new viewing habits and trends. "The roll-out of Cable 14 in HD has been something we have been working on for years," says Rickert. "We are so pleased and proud of what our team has accomplished, as it was no small feat. We hope and expect our loyal cable subscribers and many new viewers will enjoy what we have come up with."

“Cable 14 is as excited about the switch to HD as we are about the community,” says the press release. “Everyone is looking forward to seeing great programming, such as Hamilton Life with Linda Rourke and Greg Ross, The Opinionators with Tara Crugnale, Ron Corsini and Alex Johnstone; The O Show with Laura Babcock and Loren Lieberman, and, of course, all of our talented Hamilton sports teams such as the Bulldogs and Marauders, in this great new high definition format.”

Cable 14 (which won a 2013 CCSA Community Channel award for General Interest programming) has been serving Hamilton, Ancaster, Dundas, Stoney Creek, Binbrook and parts of Flamborough, as well as the surrounding communities of Haldimand, Cayuga, Dunnville, Caledonia, and Hagersville for more than 40 years.
