Telus’ new Optik TV app offers programming from TED conferences

VANCOUVER, B.C. – Telus launched a new app today that allows its Optik TV customers to watch programming from California-based non-profit TED, an organization that is well-known for its conferences and presentations featuring leading thinkers and innovators.

The new app provides viewers with access to TED’s full library of presentations discussing creative and compelling ideas on a wide variety of topics, as well as its daily new releases will also be available instantly on Optik TV.

“Telus is pleased to be associated with TED, one of the smartest innovation brands in the world today,” said David Fuller, Telus chief marketing officer, in a release. “Customers want variety with their programming and we are going to feed their natural curiosity with the new TED app on Optik.”

Optik TV users can use the TED app to browse their favourite speakers and subject matter, as well as keep track of talks they’ve watched. “Having recently announced that TED 2014 ‘The Next Chapter’ is coming to Vancouver, we could not be more excited about partnering with Telus to bring talks to television for Optik users across Canada,” said Deron Triff, TED’s director of distribution. “TED Talks on Optik creates an amazing experience to explore new ideas that are shaping the world around us.”
