PC Mobile enters post-paid wireless market with new monthly plans

TORONTO – Loblaw Companies Ltd. announced today it is expanding its PC Mobile offerings with new post-paid voice and data monthly packages for consumers.

Aimed at consumers who want to avoid “billing shock,” PC Mobile says its new monthly plans include features such as no activation fees or cancellation charges, as well as “some of the shortest contract terms currently available in the Canadian market.”

The new mobile plans are available with a variety of smartphones including models from Samsung and BlackBerry through its Mobile Shop locations at select Loblaws stores across Canada.

Customers can choose terms of 18 or 30 months. PC Mobile will offer three monthly plans that include nationwide minutes, data, unlimited international text, picture and video messaging, as well as free evenings and weekends, and unlimited Canada-wide family calling on the same account.

The new plans are being offered at time-limited introductory rates of $35, $50, and $65. Customers will also receive a $100 President’s Choice gift card with 18 or 30 month new contract activations.

Loblaw launched PC Telecom in 2005 offering PC Mobile handsets and top-up cards through the Bell Mobility network. In 2010 the grocery retailer added more than 500 Mobile Shop locations at its stores across the country.
