MONTREAL – The federal government has renewed Michel Roy's mandate as Chair of Telefilm Canada's Board for five years, Heritage Minister James Moore has announced.

"For the last five years, Michel Roy's experience and leadership have significantly helped us to redefine our corporate vision, strengthen ties with our clients and partners, as well as making our business practices more efficient. It's with great pleasure that we continue our work at Telefilm to promote the Canadian industry and talent."
Roy is an administrator and a creator who has served in both the public and private sectors. He has worked in television production in the 1960s with Radio- Canada and then joined the Quebec Public Service, where he held among others the positions of Deputy Minister of Tourism, Deputy Minister of Communications, and Head of the Quebec Delegation in Chicago for twelve Midwest states.
Following this, he was a management consultant in the private sector. As a musician and a composer, he produced two jazz albums. He also wrote a biography of hockey goaltender Patrick Roy entitled Le Guerrier, which was translated into English under the title Patrick Roy – Winning. Nothing Else.
