GATINEAU – Amanda Cliff will be joining the CRTC as executive director, communications and external relations, the Commission announced Friday
In a memo to staff, CRTC chairman Jean-Pierre Blais told staff that Cliff will be responsible for CRTC communications (including the web and client relations) and relations with external stakeholders such as Parliament, other government departments and agencies, other levels of government, non-governmental organizations and academia. She will also provide support to the Regional Commissioners, acting as the liaison between them and the head office in Gatineau.
Since 2006, Cliff has been director general of broadcasting and digital communications within the Department of Canadian Heritage’s Cultural Affairs Branch. She has served in several other leadership positions during her career, including as director of strategic operations, social development policy, at the Privy Council Office and as director general of communications at Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada, says the memo.
Renée Fairweather is currently on leave from the position of director general, strategic communications and parliamentary affairs and will return to the CRTC in a new role.
Sally Southey “is returning to her substantive position of special advisor, international affairs, reporting directly to me,” continues Blais’ memo. “Sally has played an important role within the CRTC over the past two years, and I appreciate her efforts during her assignment as director general, strategic communications and parliamentary affairs. I want to thank Sally for her support and loyalty since my arrival at the Commission last June, and for contributing to advancing the CRTC agenda.”
Paulette Leclair will be acting as executive director, communications and external relations until Cliff’s arrival on April 22.
