Allison Lenehan promoted to President of Xplornet

WOODSTOCK, NB, – Xplornet Communications has promoted Allison Lenehan to take over as its President. John Maduri, Chief Executive Officer since 2005, has announced his plans to pursue other business endeavours in 2013.

Board Chairman Bill Barrett thanked Maduri for his passionate and growth-oriented leadership since Xplornet's early days (formerly known as Barrett Xplore Inc.).

"John's visionary understanding of the need for rural Canadian high-speed Internet helped turn a start-up telecom into Canada's largest rural Internet services provider. Under John's leadership, Xplornet has built a national 4G wireless network that enables rural Canadians to surf, video chat and stream content. Xplornet has bridged the urban-rural broadband divide for rural Canadians from coast to coast to coast. In the past, many in government and businesses said getting affordable high-speed internet to rural Canada could not be done. Under John's leadership, Xplornet proved otherwise.  Now, we look to Allison's leadership to capitalize on the momentum and further accelerate growth," said Barrett in a statement.

He added that Allison Lenehan's promotion will ensure a seamless internal transition.

“Allison was a founder of Xplornet, and has played a critical role in building Xplornet in his role as Chief Marketing Officer and more recently, Chief Strategy Officer. Further, he has the experience of having participated in another telecom growth story—that of StarChoice — from start-up to over 700,000 satellite TV customers. He has a deep understanding of both the strategy and the operations of the business. The Board is confident that he has the vision and expertise to lead Xplornet's subscriber growth by putting the customer at the center of everything that we do.”
