REGINA – SaskTel is launching high throughput satellite (HTS) Internet in Saskatchewan in partnership with rural broadband provider Xplornet.
HTS will offer residential and business customers three download speed options – 1.5 Mbps, 3.0 Mbps, or 5.0 Mbps. Equipment will be included with the service and basic installation, though customers must pay a one-time activation fee which will vary depending upon the contract term. Monthly service fees start at $54.99.
“The launch of HTS demonstrates SaskTel’s commitment to improving rural broadband,” said SaskTel chief marketing officer Stacey Sandison, in the announcement. “We are extremely pleased to offer our customers with a cost-effective satellite internet service offering with significantly improved speeds and bandwidth.”
