OTTAWA – After years of delay, will this be the venue where the government finally provides details about its digital economy blueprint for the country? Christian Paradis, Minister of Industry and Minister of State (Agriculture), will provide the closing keynote address at the 2012 International Institute of Communications (IIC) Canada Conference, Innovation, Investment and Infrastructure, on October 30th.
In late August Paradis spoke at the Economic Club of Canada in Toronto where he once again promoted the importance of the digital economy, but provided scant details on what the government’s upcoming digital economy strategy will actually encompass.
From Oct. 29-30, the IIC Canada Conference at the Ottawa Convention Centre brings together leading Canadian and international experts to discuss where network pressure will emerge, what engineering or other physics solutions exist to stay ahead of that demand curve, where the financing will come from to maintain infrastructure, and what the corollary impact will be on the ability of government to achieve policy goals.

On October 29, Telefilm Canada, the CRTC, and the Canada Media Fund will be presenting a symposium on the promotion of Canadian content in international markets, prior to the beginning of the main program of the IIC Canada 2012 conference. It will feature remarks from Jean-Pierre Blais, Chairman, CRTC; Carolle Brabant, Executive Director, Telefilm Canada; and Valerie Creighton, President and CEO, Canada Media Fund. Delegates to the IIC Canada conference have the option of participating in this symposium as well.
Registrations will be accepted until close of business Friday, October 26, or until event capacity has been reached.
