Galaxy launches high speed in Canada’s north

MISSISSAUGA – Canadian satellite communications company Galaxy Broadband Communications has launched its enterprise high speed Internet service in northern Canada, including regions of the Arctic.

Galaxy provides enterprise grade VSAT services and applications such as VoIP to remote areas across Canada and the U.S.   From its hub at Telesat’s Vancouver teleport, Galaxy began transmitting via three KA band spot beams on Anik F2 which cover Alaska, Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut, in addition to the northern regions of British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

“We are so proud to be delivering our services to the Arctic and providing broadband service to the Yukon, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Alaska”, said Galaxy founder, CEO and president, Rick Hodgkinson, in the announcement.  “Many of our oil & gas and mining customers have been asking us to expand our network and service their northern remote locations”.
