New SaskTel data plans end roaming charges

REGINA, SKSaskTel is enhancing its wireless data plans and will be eliminating all data roaming charges in Canada. In addition, its out-of-province speed threshold will be increased from 200 MB to 10 GB per billing cycle to align with the in-province speed threshold.

“SaskTel is leading the marketplace in offering our customers the best plans available for their data roaming requirements across Canada,” said Ron Styles, SaskTel President and CEO.  “We are extremely pleased to provide our customers with enhanced Canada-wide data plans, with no data roaming charges now in Canada for both existing and new customers.”

SaskTel says customers on the Talk, Text and Ultimate Data plan and the $75 Smartphone Data Plan will continue to have unlimited data across Canada and now customers will have up to 10 GB in monthly data usage prior to a reduction in speed.

Also, customers with fixed quantity data plans will be able to use their allotted amount of data anywhere in Canada, rather than being limited to 200 MB outside of Saskatchewan and the data roaming charge over this amount has been removed.  Any usage incurred over the amount of data included in a customer's fixed quantity plan will be charged the overage rate associated with their plan.
