Telus gives $400,000 to Ottawa-area youth charities


OTTAWA – Grassroots youth-focused charities in the Ottawa region received a $400,000 financial boost from the Telus Ottawa Community Board this year.

The Board has supported 29 local organizations that work to educate and empower youth to reach their full potential. Since it was launched in 2005, the Board has contributed more than $3.3 million to support 203 local projects that help to improve education, health and quality of life for youth in Ottawa.

Telus also announced that Arnie Vered, president of Arnon Corporation, has been named as the new chair of the Telus Ottawa Community Board.  Other board members include Telus employees Ann Mainville-Neeson, Terry Nemeth, Michael Hennessy, Cecilia Ryan and Shannon Gorman; plus Peter Charbonneau – SkyPoint Capital; Barbara McInnes – Community Foundation of Ottawa; Michael Allen – United Way/Centraide Ottawa; Jim Orban – The Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation; and Tuan Nguyen – Recycle Frog.
