STOCKHOLM, Sweden – Ericsson is buying Canadian Wi-Fi company BelAir Networks. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
According to a Wall Street Journal report, the move is part of Ericsson's heterogeneous network (hetnet) strategy to improve the mobile broadband experience by managing the co-existence of mobile technologies and Wi-Fi.
Established in 2002, BelAir Networks is a privately-held company based in Ottawa. Its 120 employees will join Ericsson's global organization.
