TV, film and digital workshops offer passport to entrepreneurial success

TORONTO – If you’re an aspiring entrepreneur with great content, what obstacles are you facing to maximize the value of your property? Is it funding? A means to license and distribute? Or are you lacking a solid grounding in business affairs?

Media Intelligence (MI) will be working to overcome those obstacles and others with two targeted workshops in business affairs and business fundamentals for entrepreneurs to be offered on September 15-16.

The Passport for Entrepreneurs workshop will provide you with tools you need to build and promote a product or service, show you how to set up your own shop and brand, and help you develop a business plan and market channels.  It will demonstrate how to manage business development cycles and pitches, how to use the power of the Internet to direct your content to targeted markets, and how to manage the sales process.

The Media Business Affairs Administration, TV, Film and Digital Media workshop provides participants with an overview of how business affairs compliment the creative process. Starting with the initial concept, you'll  learn which documents are needed to pitch a broadcaster/distributor, and  where to find financing, including private and government sources. You'll  also learn how to ensure copyright clearances and waivers are executed, gain an understanding of producers' obligations to stakeholders, and how money can be made from the projects' exploitation rights.

Passport for Entrepreneurs takes place on Saturday, September 15 from 10 am to 4 pm at 918 Bathurst St. Toronto (at Bloor St. West) for $149.00.  The Media Business Affairs Administration, TV, Film and Digital Media workshop is on September 16, at the same location and time, and also for $149.
