REGINA – SaskTel is gearing up to launch a new feature on its Max IPTV service that can recommend live TV programs and movies individually to its residential subscribers based on each viewer’s taste and viewing habits.
The Gravity IMPRESS system tracks, analyzes, learns and predicts customers’ viewing habits in order to make recommendations on both video on demand content and linear TV programs in an integrated way. It also allows different members of the family – albeit using the same device – to receive personalized recommendations by differentiating among various viewing patterns on the same television set.
“SaskTel is committed to innovation and to enhancing the viewing experience of our Max customers,” said chief marketing officer Stacey Sandison, in the announcement. “Our innovative new TV and movie recommendation system, powered by Gravity IMPRESS, will add value for Max customers by making it much easier to find the content they want to see.”
Sasktel will implement the system during the second quarter of 2012, marking one of the first full blown deployments of such a system in North America.
