TORONTO – Why should the kids get all the fun? Senior Star 2011 will air on VisionTV on March 27 at 9pm ET/6pm PT.
Now in its 5th year, Senior Star is a talent competition where the average age of the competitors is 77. Almost 1,500 auditions in more than 50 regional competitions were held last year, yielding over 120 finalists. The first and second place finishers in those competitions were considered by the celebrity judges for eligibility as one of ten positions in the national final.
Hosted by Dinah Christie, the national final takes place at the Fallsview Theatre in the new Scotiabank Convention Centre in Niagara Falls, ON. Competitors will be scored by celebrity judges including Gordie Tapp, and recording artists Tim Louis and Dan Clancy. Singer, performer and Broadway vocal coach Elaine Overholt will offer coaching and vocal support.
