Rogers launches radio iPhone app; Android app coming

TORONTO – Rogers has launched an iPhone application for its 52 radio stations.

Available free to Rogers Wireless and Fido customers, the Rogers Radio iPhone app provides the ability to search by genre, station, city or by ‘Near Me’.  Listeners can also request a song, get details on the last 10 songs played, link to the station’s website and share their favourite station with friends via email.

"Rogers is committed to connecting with our listeners on all platforms”, said Claude Galipeau, SVP and GM of digital media, in the announcement. “The Rogers Radio iPhone application allows us to reach our listeners no matter where they are. This application complements our popular iPhone and BlackBerry applications from 680News, 660News and News1130."

A Rogers spokesperson said the company is working on a radio app for the Android platform too, but there is no date yet set for its release.
