BURNABY – Multi-carrier wireless retailer Glentel has opened its 435th store and is planning on 65 more this year alone.
Operating under the Wave Sans Fil banner, the new store, located in Montréal Eaton Centre, is the sixth location in Québec and the 126th WirelessWave location in Canada.
"Glentel opened 25 stores in the fourth quarter of 2010, bringing the total company retail store count to 435 locations," said president and CEO, Tom Skidmore, in the announcement. "In 2011 we plan to open an additional 65 company-owned mall-based stores, increasing our store count to over 500 locations. We intend to broaden our reach within the Canadian and U.S. store mall marketplace, as we respond to our growing smart phone sales and profitability that in 2011 and beyond will be complemented with the sale of wireless tablets."
In addition to its WirelessWave group of stores, in Canada, Glentel operates 82 mall-based Tbooth wireless stores and 79 in-store Wireless etc. kiosks at Costco Wholesale Canada outlets. In the United States, Glentel operates 148 mall-based stores in 11 states through Diamond Wireless LLP, a premium Verizon wireless retailer.
