TORONTO – Canadians who’ve been frustrated by air travel should be able to relate to Bite TV’s new comedy web series Papillion.
The series, which begins production this week, centers on the motley crew of misfits who operate a discount airline out of the working town of Windsor, ON. Papillon is the airline that promises to put the flutter back into flying: in other words, no unnecessary ‘perks’ such as in-flight drinks, meals, or pesky seatbelts.
The 15 X 4 minute episode series stars Kevin McDonald of Kids in the Hall, and is one of the few projects selected for the first Independent Production Fund supporting linear on-line content. Papillon will be seen in Canada first on bite.ca and then broadcast on Bite TV, and Internet platform Babelgum the U.S.
“Papillon is both perfectly targeted to Bite’s audience and a wonderful fit with our commitment to develop fresh new programming that utilizes Canada’s tremendous depth of comedic talent,” said Jeffrey Elliott, founder and co-CEO of Bite’s parent GlassBOX Television.
Created by Duopoloy and Farmhouse Productions, the series is linked to a blog www.cabinpressure.org that helps frustrated travelers vent and share their air travel horror stories.
