Videotron beefs up on-demand, web content


MONTREAL – Videotron is delivering a stocking full of on-demand titles to their customers this holiday season with dozens of French and English TV programs, series and movies added to its offerings available on illico TV, illico web and illico mobile.

On-demand content from seven channels – including Family-Playhouse Disney, HBO Canada, Super Écran, The Movie Network, TVA, VOX and YOOPA is available now at no additional cost to customers who have the channels in their cable package.

Illico web, which has logged more than 9 million listening and viewing minutes since its summer launch, is now offering paid content.  The Internet television service, which already offers access to live TV and radio stations, has added more than 3,000 movies and TV series titles. The illico web platform also added some new functions which includes the ability to pause and resume play and to memorize favourites.

“Our customers can now watch a large number of films and TV shows on their television sets, computers or mobiles,” said Myrianne Collin, VP of marketing, consumer division, in the announcement. “Delivering content on three screens is consistent with the Videotron vision of enabling customers to enjoy entertainment content where they want, when they want, in a user-friendly, intuitive environment.”
