TORONTO – Netflix has added “hundreds of new titles” to its library for Canadian viewers.
The Internet movie and TV show subscription service said Monday that it has signed new licensing agreements with CBC and FremantleMedia Enterprises, as well as extended its existing agreements with New Video, Maple and Sony.
“Adding to the choice of content we offer our members is an ongoing focus for Netflix in Canada,” said Kelly Merryman, VP of content acquisition, in the announcement. “TV content continues to be extremely popular with our members, and we believe that they will be delighted with the expanding list of critically acclaimed and popular TV series available to watch instantly.”
Many of the new titles are available now while others will be made available over the next few weeks. CBC titles include seasons one through four of the critically-acclaimed hit TV series The Tudors; season one of Men with Brooms; and seasons one and two of Republic of Doyle.
Other new content includes:
-‘Best of” episodes plus the last two complete seasons of Global TV’s Saturday Night Live, and seasons one through five of the Canadian hit The Kids in the Hall;
– Seasons one and two of the Emmy Award-winning television series Weeds starring Mary-Louise Parker;
– Season one of Sony’s The Big C; and
– Undercover Boss distributed by New Video for All3Media International.
