CTV, CTV Two stock 16 new series, combined, for Fall

TORONTO – It was CTV’s turn to trot out its new Fall programming schedule to advertisers and the media on Thursday.  Highlighted by Simon Cowell’s new series The X Factor, the network’s new slate also includes six new dramas, four new comedies, one new daytime series, and one additional new reality series.

The new series include the one-hour Monday-Friday daytime talk show Anderson hosted by journalist Anderson Cooper, drama Pan Am, new comedy Whitney, crime/mystery Unforgettable, a remake of Charlie’s Angels, the crime drama Grimm, fantasy drama Once Upon A Time, and The Sing-Off, an a capella singing competition series.  Premiering in mid-season is the musical drama Smash, new dramedy G.C.B, and the drama Missing.

Returning favourites include The Big Bang Theory, Grey’s Anatomy, Hot In Cleveland, Blue Bloods, American Idol, The Amazing Race, The Mentalist, Dancing With The Stars, Desperate Housewives, Castle, and CSI: New York.  Also returning are big ticket events such as The 84th Annual Academy Awards, Super Bowl XLVI live from Indianapolis, The Primetime Emmy Awards, The 2012 Juno Awards and more than 5,000 hours of coverage of the London 2012 Summer Olympics.

CTV also said that it has secured the digital rights to all of its new scripted programs and “a significant amount” of its current lineup, meaning the shows can be viewed on all four screens for catch-up viewing, as well as available to all Canadian wireless operators.

Newly minted CTV Two will air the new comedies Up All Night, Free Agents and Man Up, plus new series The Protector. CTV has also moved over crime dramas Criminal Minds, CSI: Miami and Law & Order: SVU to its new sibling network.

"What makes CTV so strong year-over-year is a schedule deep with dependable veteran performers, solid sophomores, and big-buzz rookie shows," said Phil King, president of CTV programming and sports, in the announcement. "Additionally, CTV’s schedule delivers not only because of its perfect mix of drama, comedy and reality, but also because of its breadth, with hits on every night and in every timeslot."
