TORONTO – Canadian entertainment retailer hmv will soon be stocking Mobilicity’s mobile phone offerings alongside its DVDs and CDs.
"There are a lot of synergies between Mobilicity, hmv and the customers we share," said Mobilicity’s VP of sales, Doug Perry, in the announcement. "As wireless continues to play a growing role in Canadians’ lives, we want to make it easy and affordable for consumers to get quality 3G wireless service where they shop."
The wireless upstart said that its handsets and packages will be available “soon” at select hmv locations in Toronto and Ottawa. Last month it announced that its products will also be available through the 7-Eleven convenience store chain.
In other company news, Mobilicity introduced pay-in-advance offerings that are available in denominations of three, six, nine, and 12 months which it says could save customers up to 33% from its regular pricing. For example, 12 months of service on the $25 unlimited talk and text plan with Caller ID and Mobilicity-to-Mobilicity calling is priced at $199.99. Purchased on a month-by-month basis, the plan costs $300 over the course of the year.
