Bell adds ethnic programming to Fibe TV lineup


TORONTO – Bell is hoping to attract ethnic audiences to its Fibe TV service with the addition of four South Asian-themed channels and three Mandarin-language channels to its lineup.

General entertainment channel Star One, Bollywood movie channel Star India Gold, news channel Star India News plus Tamil entertainment language channel Star Vijay will join Star Chinese Channel, Star Chinese Movies 2 and Taiwan’s trend setting music and lifestyle channel, Channel [V] Taiwan.

"Bell Fibe TV offers customers an enhanced television experience delivered over a state-of-the-art IPTV platform," said Heather Tulk, Bell’s SVP of residential products, in the announcement. "Adding these seven Star channels to Fibe TV’s programming line-up makes our next generation television service even more appealing to Canada’s vibrant Mandarin-speaking and South Asian communities."

A fully owned subsidiary of News Corporation, Star India broadcasts 33 channels in eight languages to more than 142 million people every week across India, and to more than 65 countries around the world.
