TORONTO – Bell Canada’s Kevin Crull has been named successor to CTVglobemedia head Ivan Fecan.
Wednesday’s announcement said that Crull, currently president of Bell’s residential services, will become COO on January 1st, reporting to Fecan, and assume the position of president of CTV upon Fecan’s retirement.
"Kevin Crull has a great reputation as a seasoned executive leader and innovator in Canadian communications and is well regarded in the industry for his deep understanding of both digital and conventional media," said Fecan, in a statement. "By building industry-leading distribution and delivering world-class content to Canadians when, where and how they want it, he has built Bell’s TV, broadband and online portal businesses into digital media leaders. I am very pleased to bring Kevin’s proven strategic and operational expertise to CTVglobemedia."
Crull, who joined Bell five years ago, is currently responsible for Bell Internet, Bell TV and Bell Fibe TV, the Sympatico on-line portal, and Bell’s residential phone business.
Following the announcement, Bell said that Wade Oosterman, president of Bell Mobility, will take on Bell’s residential services portfolio, and John Watson will be promoted to the role of EVP of customer operations, responsible for all residential and wireless customer service across Bell. Both of these appointments are also effective January 1, 2011.
Last month, Bell Canada’s parent company bought the rest of the CTV television network that it didn’t already own for $1.3 billion in order to enhance its ability to deliver video and other media services across its broadband fibre and high-speed wireless networks. Long-time CTV president and CEO Ivan Fecan announced his decision to retire within the next year, later that same day.
