SCTE announces Canadian BoD candidates; spring technical forum details

EXTON, PA – Three industry veterans have been named to the electoral slate to represent Canada on the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) board of directors for 2010.

The candidates for the position of Director-At-Large Canada (representing SCTE’s Canadian members) are:

– Boris Eventov, director, digital video engineering, Cogeco Cable;
– Tony Faccia, vice president, wireline access networks, Rogers Cable Communications; and
– Bruce Marshall, technical director, Shaw Cablesystems.

Rogers’ Dermot O’Carroll is the current Canadian board rep.  Newly elected directors will begin their two-year terms on October 19th in conjunction with the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2010 set for October 20 – 22 in New Orleans.

SCTE members may cast their votes between May 15 and July 30, 2010. Election details can be found here.

In other news, technical solutions that can reduce costs, improve the customer experience, and increase revenue will top the agenda when the SCTE teams with the NCTA and CableLabs at the inaugural spring technical forum at The Cable Show 2010.

The forum will combine thought leadership of three different sources – the forward looking operations technology discussions from SCTE’s Conference on Emerging Technologies, the documentation of engineering prior art from the annual NCTA Technical Papers program, and the future services and architecture innovations from CableLabs – into 10 panels scheduled throughout the conference.

The Cable Show 2010 is scheduled for May 11-13 at the Los Angeles Convention Centre.  Admission to the spring technical forum is included with show registration, although a separate enrollment is required.
