Bpm:tv, Pet Network, ichannel reveal plans for Fall

TORONTO – Canada’s only dance station, bpm:tv, kicks off its Fall season on Monday with a lineup of original new productions, more stars, more exclusive interviews and more cutting-edge dance music videos.

Highlights of the new season include the world premiere of the series Get Up N Dance. The original series, hosted by award-winning dancer and choreographer Danny Davalos, spotlights Canada’s top choreographers as they demonstrate how to dance like a pro.  Each episode features a dance tutorial, with routines based on specific styles such as hip-hop and breakdance, and reveals the artistry that goes into creating the moves.

Two other new profile series joining the schedule this season include Live Sessions, which will take viewers behind the scenes with ground-breaking electronic music artists as they perform at Canada’s top clubs, and London Live, a UK series that showcases performances by some of the world’s biggest musical acts including Lady Gaga, Lily Allen, Akon, Usher and Faithless.

Parent-company Stornoway also announced that The Pet Network, the world’s only television network devoted to pets and pet culture, debuts its new season on September 27.  Its daily flagship series Pet Central is back, joined by new additions to prime time including the series Pit Boss, which follows pit bull rescuer Shorty Rossi as he takes on the daunting task of rehabilitating and training North America’s most misunderstood dogs, and Fatal Attraction, a series that investigates shocking pet attacks and seeks to discover why people bring deadly animals into their homes.

ichannel, Canada’s political and social issues network, also begins a new season on September 27 with a renewed commitment to telling stories that matter, engaging viewers in discussion of today’s most urgent questions, and inspiring Canadians to make real change in the world.

Head of programming, Rosemary Fusca, said that network’s daily schedule is anchored by five major themes: world affairs, human rights, the environment, health and well-being, and relationships.

“These are the real issues that Canadians deal with in their lives every day,” she said in a statement. “Our goal is to offer viewers involving, thoughtful programming that they won’t find anywhere else, help them to realize that they really can make a difference – whether in their community, their country, or the global arena – and, most important, show them how.”
