SCTE overhauls board structure

EXTON, PA – The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) has trimmed its board of directors by four members in a move designed to better align the organization with the needs of the industry.

The 19 member board will shrink to 15 members starting this November.  Eight representatives will be selected from the organization’s regional directors, and seven directors will be nominated by the SCTE nominations subcommittee and approved by the board.  Previously, the board was comprised of 12 elected regional directors, five elected directors-at-large and two appointed directors-at-large.  All current board members and officers will finish out their terms prior to its annual membership meeting in October 2012.

“As our industry has evolved, it has become clear that SCTE’s membership in general can benefit most greatly when the Board has close working relationships with executives of the operator community,” said Bob Foote, chairman of the SCTE board of directors, in the announcement. “The Board believes these changes will enable increased operator, programmer and vendor support for the training, initiatives and events that will benefit SCTE members and the industry at large.”
