Huawei opens new Canadian HQ, provides Wind Mobile with HD Voice services

MARKHAM, ON – Chinese networking and telecommunications equipment supplier Huawei celebrated the opening of its new Canadian headquarters this week with a flurry of announcements.

Its new 46,000-square-foot facility located in Markham, just north of Toronto, includes sales and marketing capabilities as well as a test lab, which it says will help it to “focus on customer centric-innovation” in Canada plus add approximately 280 new jobs to the national market.

The company announced that it is working with wireless provider Wind Mobile to bring HD Voice services, otherwise known as Wide Band AMR, to the Canadian market by providing an enhanced voice frequency range from 200-3400Hz to 50-7000Hz, which allows for a better quality, clearer voice service experience.

Huawei also rolled out its cloud computing strategy for the North American market, which it described as a strategy that involves working with its North American partners on a solution that will enable customers to “expand service offerings, reduce costs, and bring telecommunications services to the cloud”.

“We see an exceptional opportunity to work closely with our valued North American partners and customers to take cloud computing to the next level,” said Charles Ding, president of Huawei North America, in the announcement. “Huawei is developing a reliable, flexible, scalable and automated solution that will deliver our partners’ cloud services and grow as this exciting technology evolves.”
