TORONTO – The Directors Guild of Canada is losing its national executive director and CEO.
Brian Anthony, who assumed his DGC responsibilities in the Fall of 2007, said Wednesday that he will resign effective March 1, 2011. He called his decision “a purely personal one”.
“This was not an easy decision, but I want to have more time to spend with my wife and family”, Anthony said in a statement. “After much reflection, I came to the conclusion that this was the right decision at the right time.”
DGC said that it will be striking a search committee of the national executive board, and engage an executive search firm to seek candidates for Anthony’s successor. The successful candidate will hopefully be selected well before March 2011 in order to ensure a smooth transition, the statement continued.
The Directors Guild of Canada is a national membership-based labour organization that represents over 3,800 individuals from key creative and logistical personnel in the film, television and digital media industries in Canada.
