TORONTO – CanWest has cranked up the promotional machine in support of two new series on specialty channels Showcase and History Television, and a new mobile recipe app for Food Network Canada.
Showcase has picked up Endgame, an original drama series developed and produced by Thunderbird Films in association with Front Street Pictures. Centering around a brilliant chess master who solves the crimes that mystify others, the one hour, 13-episode series is set to begin production this summer and premiere next spring. Casting announcements are forthcoming.
History Television will air its first-ever scripted limited series The Kennedys. Focusing on one of America’s most legendary families, the one-hour, eight-part drama will star actors Greg Kinnear, Katie Holmes, Tom Wilkinson and Barry Pepper.
Produced by Muse Entertainment for AETN and History Television, shooting is set to begin in June in and around the Greater Toronto area and will continue through September, 2010. It will premier in 2011.
