Mobilicity cross-country tour set to ‘prove’ its lower rates

TORONTO – Mobilicity is set to kick off a cross-Canada road trip and social media expedition to promote its new long distance and roaming rates, and its CEO blogger contest winner, 23-year old Kathryn Tom, will document the journey.

Tom, a Biomedical graduate from Markham, ON, will be part of a small Mobilicity team that will record and share CEO Dave Dobbin’s two-week journey across the country via social media. In addition to winning the trip, she will also receive a Mobilicity handset of her choice with a year of service, plus a 16 GB BlackBerry PlayBook.

The ‘Prove It To You’ tour starts in Toronto on July 14 and ends July 27 in Vancouver and is designed to demonstrate the wireless carrier’s affordable national coverage.  Dobbin said that he will make a series of daily calls to business colleagues, family, friends, and customers using two “almost identical BlackBerry smartphones” – one on the Mobilicity network, and a second on a ‘Big Three’ network – and then compare the costs of using both carriers’ networks.

"We’re so confident that our 20-cent-a-minute flat North American travel rate is a better deal that we’re going to be comparing the costs of every call we make every day," Dobbin said in a news release. "Canadians need to know there’s a better, more affordable alternative to paying for both long distance and roaming with the Big Three carriers, and we’ll prove it."
