TORONTO – TSN has locked up the exclusive rights to Wimbledon for the next decade.
The sports ‘caster said Wednesday that its 10-year deal, which begins in 2012, includes all English and French-language multimedia rights plus includes both the women’s and men’s singles finals for the first time in the network’s history.
"TSN’s mandate has always been to bring the world’s best athletes and top sporting events to Canadians and we are thrilled to extend our partnership with the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club and add the Wimbledon Finals to our slate of marquee championship events," said president Stewart Johnston, in the announcement. "Acquiring a long-term exclusive agreement for all Wimbledon coverage ensures that Canadian tennis fans will be well-served with exceptional live tennis coverage across multiple TSN platforms over the next decade."
The deal makes TSN the exclusive Canadian broadcaster of all four Grand Slam tennis events, including the Australian Open, French Open, and the U.S. Open.
